PRE-COLLEGE PROGRAMMING
Pre-college programs are a selection of summer and school-year opportunities that support 9-12th graders in expanding their horizons, exploring their passions, and developing their skills for college success. These programs complement the extracurricular programs offered within Haynes. We focus on the following areas for pre-college programs:
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Programs
- Internships & Career Explorations (including DC’s Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program),
- International Trips
- College Campus Experiences
- Cultural, Artistic, History and Museum Programs
- Leadership Programs
- Targeted College Preparatory partnerships
Students can attend weekly application sessions to get support on:
- Identifying, researching, and applying to best-fit programs
- Creating resumes and writing application essays
- Requesting letters of recommendation, preparing for interviews, and navigating parental tax documents
- Practicing email etiquette, organizational skills, digital calendar use, and technology skills
Please contact Kristy Li Puma about Pre-College programs at klipuma@elhaynes.org or (202) 487-7630 or in-person Wednesdays after school and by appointment.
